Adesola Yusuf (Arclight) is a 25 year old multimedia artist from Lagos, Nigeria. He creates collages that blur the line between digital illustration and photography by staging portraits of his family and of himself. The black and white pictures have been manipulated to emphasize a glowing darkness which contrasts with the vivid colors of the expansive details of the imagery. Arclight’s paintings explore self-awareness and growth, and reflect on the aspirations, dreams and frustrations of Nigerian youth. He draws inspiration from the Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo art movements, as much as from Pop and Internet Art. His work has been exhibited at AG18 gallery, Austria; Art X Lagos, Superrare and Gazeli.iO project space, amongst others.
