Kenny Vaden is a scientist and artist who creates algorithms to generate artwork. Prior to creative coding, Vaden's art experience included drawing, painting, stained glass apprenticeships, as well as nature photography. His artworks have been selected for the permanent art collection at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) where he is a faculty member (2016, 2022), the juried annual art publication MUSC Humanitas (2015, 2016, 2020), Courtenay Street Art Gallery (2012), and Piccolo Spoleto 27th Annual Juried Art Exhibition (2012). Vaden started experimenting with code that generated art in the R Statistics Language, purely out of curiosity. This followed years of writing R code to perform analyses and create highly precise graphics for plotting scientific results. As his artistic experiments continued, he encountered a wonderful online community of creative coders and associated artists from engineering, mathematics, economics, computer science, and other technical disciplines.
